Founded in 2016 by Miss Soheila Mosun, at the time, a grade 11 student at Oakville’s Appleby College, Selfless 16™ is an inspirational youth movement that has quickly captured the attention of youth and educators.
Armed with the desire to drive awareness for community causes and to encourage self-reflection amongst her peers, Selfless 16™ was started. With the help of its Ambassadors and The Duke of Edinburgh International Award, Selfless 16™ is inspiring and encouraging young adults to give back to their communities through a milestone event in their lives – their sixteenth birthday.
Selfless 16™ believes that celebrating one’s sixteenth birthday is not only a time of celebration, but also a time for self-reflection. It is when a young adult starts to think about what is truly valuable in life, what kind of an adult one wants to become, and what positive impact one wants to make in the world.
Selfless 16™ celebrations can be celebrated throughout the year and there will be annual celebrations hosted by high schools, families, and friends all over the world.
Currently, Soheila is completing her political science degree at the University of Toronto and remains very passionate about growing Selfless 16™ in new ways.
